Makomanai Park (visit 1)

First time to head out to Makomanai Park. It took awhile from Otaru; JR train to subway to bus to walking. LOL, found out later there was a different bus line that went to the station with a stop in front of the meeting area. The birds here seemed a little bit more approachable. They were not afraid to be gawked at and photographed. I saw several new awesome birds; one was the Great-crested Kingfisher…which I thought was a duck the size and the way it flew by! First time meeting a woman named Masumi. We hit it off well, and spent a long time talking and watching birds together, as we moved along with the group. After the birding was done for the day; Hitomi and her husband were kind enough to give us a ride all the way back beyond Makomanai Station to Sapporo Station. Masumi and I decided to have lunch together at CoCo-Ichiban. We talked about birds and many other things for a long time. A very wonderful day indeed!
